Fan's Gallery - Nick Fathers

17-08-2008

Like most race teams (we would imagine), StoneBaker receives photographic submissions from its fans from time to time asking if we'd be interested in featuring their work, taken from the spectator enclosures, on our site.

Nick Fathers has been following our exploits pretty much since the formation of the team at the start of the year. He travelled out to Brno and Brands with his camera and posted in a range of shots on to us, the best of which we've published in a small gallery on the site - we hope you like them.

Please note that all the shots in the gallery remain the copyright of Nick Fathers.

Mixed results at Knockhill

11-08-2008

Dan Linfoot and Pat McDougall both reported themselves pleased with their guest rides in the eighth round of the Fuchs-Silkolene Supersport series at Knockhill, although both men had to contend with difficult circumstances during the rain-hit weekend.

Dan Linfoot proved exceptional on the Centurion Racing Honda after being thrown in the deep end, only riding the bike for the first time on Saturday and for the first time in the dry during the race on Sunday. Dan gained himself an extremely creditable 13th place on the race and two points in the Championship.

An overheating engine forced the retirement of Pat McDougall on lap 19 aboard the MFC Racing Honda. Boxed in at the start, Pat had been moving his way up through the field of Supersport Cup contenders. Just as a podium finish began to look possible his machine started to loose power and, with wisps of smoke emerging from the exhaust, the former StoneBaker rider elected to pull in rather than risk an engine blow-up.

With thanks to Carly Rathmell for the details on Dan's race

StoneBaker riders return to BSB

09-08-2008

Two StoneBaker-connected riders have made an unexpected return to British racing at Knockhill this weekend.

Dan Linfoot is standing in for Centurion Racing's Daniel Cooper in the main British Supersport championship after the Stroud-based rider injured himself during free practice on Friday. Former StoneBaker rider Pat McDougall is also in attendance, undertaking a one-off ride in the British Supersport Cup series with the Irish MFC team.

Both men are Honda-mounted for the weekend. At the end of two very wet qualifying sessions on Saturday, Dan stands in 11th place on a time of 55.428 seconds around the 1.3-mile Scottish circuit. Pat recorded a fastest lap of 56.695 seconds which saw him finish 27th overall and sixth in terms of the Cup entrants.

Linfoot and McDougall have both reported themselves as being happy with their new machines and looking forwards to tomorrow's 27-lap race.

The great race at the new Portimao circuit brings an end to our season in World Superbike Superstock 600, with riders Gino Rea and Dan Linfoot.

The season has been a success with Gino third and Dan fifth in the championship standings following three victories and five additional podiums in total. The results have also acted as a stepping stone to the riders for next season, with both securing high profile, career progressing rides for 2009.

Thank you for all of the emails, calls, texts and visits throughout the year. It has been much appreciated.
